On December 29, 2024, Mike passed away. Mike Campbell, Jazz vocalist, who has appeared in concerts and jazz festivals across the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia and Canada, has performed with Sarah Vaughan, Tuck & Patti, Henry Mancini, Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and Benny Carter, and has recorded with Nancy Wilson, Donald Byrd, Moacir Santos, and Roger Miller, among others. Mike has also contributed to several movie soundtracks, radio & television commercials, and over 40 television shows.
Mike recorded eight albums, on various labels, including Palo Alto, Audiophile Records and ITI Records and is featured on the Herb Geller autobiographical "Playing Jazz" on Fresh Sound Records.
Mike also taught at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, and served as its Vocal Program Director. He was Chairman of the Vocal Music Department and a teacher at the renowned Grove School of Music for ten years and has presented voice clinics worldwide. He published vocal instruction videos, released by Warner Bros, and authored a sight singing book and a vocal harmony book, both published by Hal Leonard.
Originally titled "Live at Donte's Vol 2", when Mike was alive, we felt that it was more fitting to rename the album as such, "Let The Music Play On."
Tom Garvin on piano, Tom Peterson on saxophones, John Patitucci on bass, Peter Donald on Drums. The Quartet also perform as a unit on the opening and closing tracks.
