Owned by ITI Music Corporation, ITI Records is an independent record label founded in 1982, dedicated to producing and releasing high-quality jazz music and supporting emerging and established jazz artists. Built on the belief that great composers and performers deserve a platform to share their work, ITI Records began as a jazz production company focused on straight-ahead jazz and artist-driven recordings.
The label’s earliest releases featured acclaimed jazz musicians including Tom Garvin, Ruth Price, the Heard Ranier Ferguson Trio, Bill Mays & Red Mitchell, and Wayne Johnson. ITI Records later expanded into jazz fusion and funk and soul music, releasing early albums by Richard Elliott, Windows, and From the Closet by Daryle Chinn. These foundational releases established ITI Records as a respected name in jazz record production and independent jazz labels.
With more than 40 years in the music industry, ITI Music Corporation founder Mike Dion held executive roles at major and independent record labels including United Artists Records, Polydor, Liberty, MGM, and ABC Records/Impulse. His career spanned multiple genres, working with artists such as Ray Charles, Rufus & Chaka Khan, Barbara Mandrell, The Oak Ridge Boys, Steely Dan, Electric Light Orchestra, and Jimmy Buffett. To further support artists outside of jazz, Warrant Music was established to serve musicians across additional genres.
Today, ITI Records and ITI Music Corporation distribute music worldwide, with digital distribution through The Orchard and physical CD distribution via MVD in domestic and international markets, including Japan through DiskUnion. Following the label’s relaunch, ITI Records has reissued much of its original catalog while continuing to release new jazz albums, live jazz recordings, and archival jazz releases.
In 2012, multi-instrumentalist and producer Art Johnson became a partner in the revitalized label, leading its European operations and expanding the catalog with international artists. Though Art passed away in 2018, his creative legacy continues through ongoing and future releases.
In the digital era, ITI Music Corporation makes its catalog available globally on streaming platforms, digital stores, and select physical formats including Wallet-Lite CDs and custom jewel case releases. Today, ITI Music Corporation serves as the parent company for ITI Records, focused primarily on jazz music, and Warrant Music, releasing blues, classical, reggae, rock, and world music. The company also provides music distribution services for additional labels and artists.
